How long with the HQ Sale last?
We have been told "60 days" from early April. We will honor any discount reflected on the HQ website. Note that MK Quilts updates and validates the default build before shipping it to the customer.
Why did my tablet battery expand?
Some (but not all) of the Chuwi brand tablets had internal hardware programming (firmware) that did not manage charging of the lithium battery well. Older Acer brand tablets also had rare instances due to lithium battery age.
Can I have someone locally replace my battery?
Replacing the battery is complicated by the battery being double-sided taped to the back of the screen and additional thin gold cables that have to be disconnected to free the battery. MK Quilts may be able to provide a battery, however we do not recommend a novice to attempt the replacement.
Why can't I ship a tablet with an expanded battery legally?
There are special fire resistant boxes with specific 'ground only shipping' labels that must be used when shipping damaged lithium batteries. Have you heard of the Value Jet disaster? Do not ship your expanded battery without receiving a fire resistant box.
Will Handi Quilter replace my tablet for free?
Handi Quilter provides a 2-year warranty on the tablet, 5-year warranty on the machine. The tablet warranty starts from the date of purchase, so you should not rely solely on the serial number of the Pro-Stitcher. If you are under warranty, contact Handi Quilter support for a tablet replacement.

Can I keep using my expanding tablet?
No instances of fire nor explosion has been reported, however: MK Quilts can not take on liability for your decision. Eventually the expanding battery will press on the back of the screen hard enough to effect the touch screen. Do not remove the tablet from the machine and store it in an area with flammable materials.
What version of Pro-Stitcher will be on the tablet?
As of April 2025, it looks like Handi Quilter will be shipping tablets with version 847 or higher on the new TPC12 tablets.
MK Quilts will update the OS and PS software on the tablets to the latest recommended or requested version of Pro-Stitcher.
MK Quilts recommends versions:
- 537 - PS Premium with WIFI off (Not for PS-Lite)
- 847 (or higher) for PS Connect with WIFI on - or for all PS-Lite systems.
Do I need to run Windows Updates on my PS Tablet
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Handi Quilter has not published their recommendations.
We recommend not running with the tablet connected to the internet. However, if you do connect it to the internet, you should run Windows updates manually every month to avoid unexpectedly impacting Pro-Stitcher performance.
The PS tablet security is very locked down as long as additional third party software is not added to the system.
Windows updates running in the background can impact Pro-Stitcher performance. They should not start if the WIFI network is not connected.
The PS 847+ version enables the WIFI after reboot if you used the 'connect automatically' checkbox when initially connecting. MK Quilts can help disable this and/or show you how to enable airplane mode.
Do I need a new tablet to fix motor errors?
No. If you are having technical problems like 'motor errors' or software problems, please contact MK Quilts through email at support@mkquilts.com, schedule a support call on the support website, or call 727-935-1739 and press #2. Messages left are automatically transcribed and put in our support queue.
Do I need a new mounting bracket?
Handi Quilter may decide to do warranty replacements by sending only the tablet and instructions on how to use it with an existing bracket.
All purchased tablet upgrades come with a new bracket and cabling based on the machine type.
Everything seems smaller on the screen. Why?
If you purchased this from MK Quilts, we should have corrected this. Confirm that the Monitor size is set to 10 inches Width and 6.75 inches Height. (Use the grid to confirm the changes resulted in square boxes.)
