Why Your TPC Pro-Stitcher Tablet Won't Offer Windows 11 (And Why That's a Good Thing Through 2029)

You've probably seen the headlines: "Windows 10 support has ended." That's true for most Windows 10 computers — but if your Pro-Stitcher tablet is a TPC unit, you're not affected. Here's why.

Two Different Versions of Windows 10

Most computers run the "General Availability" channel of Windows 10, which Microsoft ended mainstream support for on October 14, 2025. TPC Pro-Stitcher tablets run something different: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel), built for dedicated devices that need to run the same way for years without interruption — think point-of-sale terminals and industrial controllers.

We confirmed this directly with Handi Quilter engineering: the TPC's processor isn't compatible with Windows 11, and the tablet was built specifically for LTSC. That's by design, not an oversight — and it's why you'll never see a Windows 11 offer in Windows Update on a TPC tablet. LTSC editions are deliberately excluded from feature upgrades so nothing changes on you mid-project.

How Long It's Supported

The LTSC release on TPC tablets is the 2019 build (version 1809):

  • Mainstream support ended January 9, 2024.
  • Extended support — including monthly security updates — runs through January 9, 2029.

Your tablet is still getting the same security patches it always has, with more than two years of runway from today. There's no urgency to change anything.

The Older Tablets: TJD, Chuwi, and Acer

If your Pro-Stitcher predates the TPC, it may be running a TJD, Chuwi, or Acer tablet instead. Those ran standard Windows 10 rather than the LTSC edition — and some are eligible to upgrade to Windows 11 through the normal Windows Update path.

The recommendation is the same one we've always given: don't enable Wi-Fi on these tablets. If Wi-Fi is already enabled, keep the tablet in airplane mode, and only update it if we or Handi Quilter specifically recommend it. This isn't a security concern — these tablets are fine as-is — it's simply to keep a dedicated-purpose device from changing on its own.

What This Means for You

  • Keep running Windows Update on TPC tablets as usual — patches continue through January 2029.
  • The "Windows 10 unsupported" headlines don't apply to your Pro-Stitcher tablet, TPC or otherwise.
  • Keep tablets off Wi-Fi except when we need it for remote support — TPC and older models alike.
  • Only update at our or HQ's direction. Security isn't the issue; stability is.
